The Agony and the Ecstasy of Growing Old With Facebook

Some time this May, I will step into a noisy bar or chintzy hotel space in New York City for my 10-year high school reunion. I'll scan faces to see how they've aged, glance at ring fingers and listen as former classmates talk about where they work, live, travel, who they date and which old friends they've kept up with


But much of this will likely come across as old news, thanks to that other thing celebrating its 10-year anniversary: Facebook.


The social network launched at Harvard in February 2004. Five months later, one of my high school classmates attended an orientation at Harvard and returned with news of TheFacebook. He sent out a mass email urging much of our graduating class to put their newly acquired college email addresses to use and join. Twitter Account Helps Sports Noobs Sound Smart During Super Bowl

Non-sports fans: If you're going to a Super Bowl party on Sunday, and have no clue how to join your friends' football banter, have no fear because Logo TV wants to help you.


Throughout the game, the channel's Twitter account (@LogoTV) is planning a "real-time survival guide" that will offer tweeted tips on what you should say to sound smart wherever you're watching the game. The tweets kick off at 6:30 p.m. ET.



These are the types of tweets that followers will see, according to Logo TV:




  • "#SuperBowl Survival Guide: Tell the tallest guy in the room that QB @DangeRussWilson has thrown more than 500 completions for the @Seahawks."
