Your Twitter Feed May Soon Be Filled With Accounts You Don't Follow

Twitter is quietly testing a new feature that could display tweets in your timeline from accounts you don't follow.


The social platform, which is known for subtly trying out new features among a small pool users, is experimenting with its core feature: the follow system. This week, a Twitter user reported seeing tweets in his feed from an account he didn't follow, because that account was followed by someone he did follow



As first reported by ReadWrite, Twitter user @Aleefbaypay spotted a tweet from BuzzFeed pop up in his feed, along with a "follow" button located at the bottom of the tweet. Since it wasn't an ad, it wasn't listed as a "promoted" tweet, but mentioned that someone he follows also follows BuzzFeed. It's unknown when the testing started; the company has not yet responded to a request for comment. Read more...

Snapchat, one of the hottest mobile messaging apps, has become a convenient and fun way to send photos and videos to friends and family without eating up your phone's memory.


Launched in 2011, Snapchat allows users to add captions, drawings and filters to their photos and videos (also known as "snaps"). Unlike other messaging apps, you can view snaps for a maximum of 10 seconds, and then it's gone for good. Anything shared through the service self-destructs, leaving no evidence that it existed. (However, just like everything else online, privacy isn't guaranteed.)

Facebook Is Down for Some Users

If you've been experiencing issues logging onto Facebook today, you're not alone. The site is down for some users.


The site started to undergo issues around just before 12 noon ET, according to various tweets.



Facebook's developer webpage isn't available either right now, and Down for Everyone or Just Me is reporting the site is indeed down. Various tweets also indicate user issues with accessing the site


The news comes just over a month after Facebook suffered a 30-minute outage which affected the social network's web and mobile site as well as connected apps. Read more...
